Home.Earth Nærheden receives the Best Residential Project Award at MIPIM

Last night at MIPIM in Cannes, Home.Earth Nærheden received the Best Residential Project Award!

For us, the project represents much more than a building. It’s an example of how the construction industry can move towards operating within planetary boundaries. As Tue Hesselberg Foged, Creative Director and Co-founder of EFFEKT, explains:

“The collaboration with Home.Earth and the other partners has been crucial in achieving the ambitious sustainability goals we set. From the very beginning, Home.Earth established very high expectations for the partnership, which we see as necessary because the transformation of the construction industry cannot happen in isolation.
Nærheden is Home.Earth’s first project where two architectural teams – Vandkunsten and EFFEKT – were brought together. That collaboration reflects the complexity of the challenge: we need to help each other solve it. In that sense, it’s not just one actor’s project, but a shared project with a shared ambition to build in a new way.
Through this collaboration, we’ve been able to push the boundaries of what’s possible. We have already achieved a record-low life-cycle assessment of 4.7 kg CO₂e per m² for a multi-storey timber building. Now we are working on Home.Earth’s next project in Høje Taastrup C, aiming to go below 4 kg CO₂e per m².
The lower we go, the harder it becomes – but when all actors in construction come together, an incredible force for innovation emerges.”

Thank you to the Jury and to everyone involved: Home.Earth, Tegnestuen Vandkunsten, Sweco, Scandi Byg, Byens Tømrerentreprise, Energy Machines™, Ole Møller, NærHeden, Høje-Taastrup Kommune, Realdania and Sjælsø Management ApS.
