Hospitalshaven: Arkitekturens Dag at Frederiksberg Hospital

On 6 October 2025, Frederiksberg Kommune showcased the newly transformed chapel as part of Arkitekturens Dag, highlighting Hospitalshaven — a new urban district in Frederiksberg built on the vision of growing the new from the old, by preserving and transforming up to 80% of the existing buildings and much of the surrounding greenery.

EFFEKT partner Tina Lund Højgaard shared the vision behind the project, joined by Marianne Krogh and Sidsel Gelting Hodge, curators of KAPELLET GENFORTALT — the beautifully restored chapel that hosted the event and serves as a model for future development, showing how existing structures can be reimagined as drivers of quality, belonging, and community.

Hospitalshaven will grow into a neighborhood where life between generations can thrive – a place for play, movement, calm, and reflection. The first phase begins in 2027, introducing new homes in both existing and newly built structures, organized in small clusters that foster local communities. Everyday life is at the center – with pedestrian-friendly streets, shared spaces, and green courtyards.

The development plan is based on the original vision for the area's development and has been created by EFFEKT, in collaboration with Arkitema, COWI, Gemeinschaft, and Creator Projects.
