Together with Høgde, we have developed an architectural concept for Setesdal Kraftpark, a new energy experience centre in Bykle, Norway.
Located beside Sarvsfossen Dam, the project uses the landscape as both setting and medium, transforming the mountain into an immersive journey through the region’s industrial heritage.
Visitors are invited to venture deep into the bedrock, moving through a sequence of subterranean galleries and tunnels before emerging onto panoramic terraces overlooking the dramatic landscape. Along the way, they will explore the impact of hydroelectric infrastructure on local communities and how it has shaped the Norwegian landscape, while discovering its pivotal role in building the country’s national power grid.
Rooted in Bykle’s long history as a power-producing community, Setesdal Kraftpark aims to become a destination that explores this industrial legacy while looking ahead to the future of hydropower and its role in Norway’s evolving energy landscape.
Thank you to Bykle Næringslag for the opportunity and to HØGDE for the collaboration.
