Folkemødet 2025: From biodiversity to bold policy
Folkemødet 2025: From biodiversity to bold policy

At this year’s Folkemødet, the Reduction Roadmap set the stage for three conversations on the green transition of Denmark’s construction sector – now and in the future:

1) With “Beyond the Roadmap” and the Butterfly Model as our framework, we explored how biodiversity loss must be treated as a real financial risk. As pointed out by Signe Ravn Fosgaard (Green Finance Institute) and Thomas de Bang (Novo Nordisk Foundation), incorporating nature into economic decisions opens up new markets and mindsets.

2) Sebastian Jonshøj (Danmarks Naturfredningsforening) highlighted the need to make wild nature more accessible and appealing in cities – a key to achieving Denmark’s 30% nature by 2030 target, rooted in the Kunming-Montreal agreement.

3) In a panel on climate regulation, Rasmus Brandt Lassen (DI Byggeri) acknowledged the shared goal of reducing emissions across the sector. But the pace and scale of reductions remain crucial to staying within planetary boundaries.

With over 630 companies calling on Parliament to lower the CO₂ cap, the message is clear: bold, science-aligned policy is needed – and political pressure from the industry plays a key role in pushing the agenda forward.

Thank you to all who joined us – and to our co-hosts: Dansk Erhverv, Novo Nordisk Fonden, DI Biosolutions, European Biosolutions Coalition, Alliance for Biosolutions & Realdania.
