Last Friday marked the inauguration of the new park in Hospitalshaven – one of the first steps in realizing a new urban district in Frederiksberg, built on the vision of growing the new from the old.
Designed by EFFEKT in collaboration with Arkitema and COWI, the park is part of a larger transformation of the former hospital grounds, where up to 80% of the existing buildings and much of the surrounding greenery will be preserved and transformed.

With respect for the existing landscape, the new park invites calm, play, and community – featuring gravel paths, yellow tiles, soft lighting, fixed and flexible furniture, a “mist fountain” for playful water fog effects, and opportunities to explore stepping stones and figures hidden among the planting beds.
The inauguration was celebrated with speeches by Mayor Michael Vindfeldt, Deputy Mayor Lone Loklindt, and Regional Council Chair Lars Gaardhøj, followed by a guided tour with EFFEKT and autumn activities for all ages.
Hospitalshaven Park is now open to everyone – a green meeting place where Frederiksberg’s next chapter begins. The hope is that it will quickly become part of everyday life in Frederiksberg – an oasis and meeting place where people can enjoy a calm moment and have their senses stimulated.
The development plan is based on the original vision for the area and has been created by EFFEKT, in collaboration with Arkitema, COWI, Gemeinschaft, and Creator Projects.
