Sankt Lukas

The transformation of Sankt Lukas reimagines the hospice as a place that feels less like an institution and more like a home. The design supports deinstitutionalization through spatial clarity, human scale, and a strong connection to nature and daily life.

The project reorganizes and extends the existing building with a clear architectural structure that separates patient, relative, staff, and service functions—creating calm, legible zones without compromising intimacy or care. Materials, daylight, and green courtyards are used to foster warmth, comfort, and familiarity across the entire complex.

Rather than adding volume, the intervention simplifies. The result is a cohesive and future-proof environment where architecture quietly supports the core values of Sankt Lukas: dignity, care, and presence—delivered through spaces that feel personal, soft, and grounded in everyday experience.
