EFFEKT prequalified for the competition to redevelop Leeds City Square, in a team with Gillespies, Arup and Umbrellium.
The competition, which is EFFEKT´s first in the United Kingdom, will aim to redevelop Leeds City Square and create a vibrant public space, which responds positively to the city´s diverse population, cultural richness and climate change ambitions.
The central square is Leed´s gateway into the city centre – often the first experience most people have of the city, with more than 40.000 pedestrians crossing the square every day.
Four other teams were shortlisted to submit the concept design: Aecom with Graeme Massie, Atkins, MICA, re-form landscape architecture.
The competition is organized by Leeds City Council with Balfour Beatty.
