Climate Harbour

The Climate Harbour in Middelfart is a new design concept for a protective barrier for rising seawater, combined with the development of a new multifunctional urban space.

Rising seawater threatens to flood the inner city and harbour area. This design concept transforms the harbour front into a vibrant and diverse urban living room for the people in Middelfart. The design is based on three elements: Protecting the harbour area by building a new continuous barrier, connecting the promenade to the city centre via new infrastructure and path systems, and developing a new climate walk as a new urban space with different cultural and social activities. EFFEKT won the separate competition for KulturØpladsen, which is part of the climate harbour.
